What Is Your Take On The Covid Vaccines And A Spike In Your Protein Level?
A MyMyelomaTeam Member asked a question 💭

Shipmates
I was in perfect health, well maybe a few pounds overweight. I never took any pills except for my migraines. No high blood pressure no high cholesterol, no history of cancer in my family. I’m the first. I had my blood tests done at my physical in November 2020. Everything was fine, no problem. March and April 2021, I received my Covid vaccines and in November, 2021, I was told I had way to much protein in my blood. I needed to go to an oncologist and was diagnosed with… read more

Thanks to you all for finding time to reply to my concerns about MM and survival rates. I think that access to good healthcare is a major determinant to survival rates including other factors.

Covid Vaccine
A MyMyelomaTeam Member asked a question 💭

So I'm wondering how many people that are currently getting treatment for MM received their covid shot and it actually took?
Mine didn't how ever my regular oncologist would like me to get the booster plus the flu shot. Now I'm thinking why would I put more drugs in my body that aren't going to work.
When I got my covert shot I had to take 6 weeks off from chemo but the shots still didn't take. So now on paper I. Vaccinated but I'm really not.

Also, these vaccines only protect you from being hospitalized and/or positively dying, you can still contract the virus. There is no cure, it is like the flu.

Can Anyone Explain What The Current Covid Vaccine Recommendations Are For People With Weakened Immune Systems?
A MyMyelomaTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have gotten the initial 2 shots and have had 2 additional booster vaccines. My last booster was Nov. 18, 2021. When I called my doctor's office to ask if I needed another vaccine, they simply said yes you need one every six months. I don't want to overlook the fact that they are coming out with new vaccines that are more affective against some of the newer variants. I don't know if I should just get the original vaccine or wait for one of the newer ones. I'm curious to know what is being… read more

Covid Shot
A MyMyelomaTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hello so I would like to know if any one that got the covid shot and stopped chemo while getting the shot. Has any problems with their white blood count going lower? And did your ANC # go really low
I went to get my treatment today after being off for 6 weeks due to getting covid shot. I couldn't get treatment because my ANC # was way to low my Dr said I would end up in hospital. So she is going to wait a week and see if # goes up. Because no one knows anything about the shots she think it… read more

You do have to wait as the childhood shots MMR are derived from live viruses. Can't have that for at least a year as your immune system is still compromised
