What Is Your Take On The Covid Vaccines And A Spike In Your Protein Level?
A MyMyelomaTeam Member asked a question 💭

Shipmates
I was in perfect health, well maybe a few pounds overweight. I never took any pills except for my migraines. No high blood pressure no high cholesterol, no history of cancer in my family. I’m the first. I had my blood tests done at my physical in November 2020. Everything was fine, no problem. March and April 2021, I received my Covid vaccines and in November, 2021, I was told I had way to much protein in my blood. I needed to go to an oncologist and was diagnosed with… read more

My first COVID vaccine caused a spike in my light chains, but it was temporary. I don't remember if my protein pattern was effected..

Can Anyone Explain What The Current Covid Vaccine Recommendations Are For People With Weakened Immune Systems?
A MyMyelomaTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have gotten the initial 2 shots and have had 2 additional booster vaccines. My last booster was Nov. 18, 2021. When I called my doctor's office to ask if I needed another vaccine, they simply said yes you need one every six months. I don't want to overlook the fact that they are coming out with new vaccines that are more affective against some of the newer variants. I don't know if I should just get the original vaccine or wait for one of the newer ones. I'm curious to know what is being… read more

My oncologist said to get my 5th shot and I am fine. Never have had Covid yet. Knock on wood. Stay healthy and God Bless.

I Heard That The Covid Vaccine Is Only 50% Affective For MM Patients Because The Necessary Antibodies Are Not Provided. Any Truth To This?
A MyMyelomaTeam Member asked a question 💭

I will have my blood tested to determine if I have Covid antibodies. My doc provided a script.

Covid Booster
A MyMyelomaTeam Member asked a question 💭

What are your views on the Covid boosters. I had mild Covid while I was boosted and I need to decide if I want another shot. Things are coming out about serious problems caused by the shot but my immunity is low. So what’s everyone’s opinion

Has Anyone Used Evusheld - Any Side Effects Or Issues With It ? Any Other Preventative Meds Used Besides The Covid Shots ?
A MyMyelomaTeam Member asked a question 💭

I'm going to a trade show in Sept. and possibly another in Oct.

I'm still immune compromised and its probably going to be a long time before my immune system will recover. Due to Covid, I've mostly been working from home but not exclusively - food shopping, restaurants, recently movies again, and endless doctor, PT, and now gym visits, etc.

Being on a plane and in close contact to thousands of people at a trade show is a whole new level of exposure that concerns me.

Thanks

A MyMyelomaTeam Member asked a question 💭

Yes, the hospital called me about that. That's what scares me. I'm just afraid, from what I have read, that there will inevitably more after that and more often. That is, if our weakened systems can… read more

Can People With Multiple Myeloma Taking Maintenance Therapy Get The Covid 19 Vaccine?
A MyMyelomaTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hi
I am on Daralex and dexamethasone for maintenance therapy. I ask my doctor about getting the Covid 19 vaccine and was told it may not be as effective because of the maintenance therapy. They did not say I could not get the vaccine, but I should check to see what the CDC guidelines were.

Thanks
