Can People With Multiple Myeloma Taking Maintenance Therapy Get The Covid 19 Vaccine?

Can People With Multiple Myeloma Taking Maintenance Therapy Get The Covid 19 Vaccine?

Hi
I am on Daralex and dexamethasone for maintenance therapy. I ask my doctor about getting the Covid 19 vaccine and was told it may not be as effective because of the maintenance therapy. They did not say I could not get the vaccine, but I should check to see what the CDC guidelines were.

Thanks

Hey Wordpass, I called the CVS specialty pharmacist. She said it is fine to get the vaccine. She pulled up the CDC guidelines for immunocompromised patients. The shot might not be as effective for us. She said to make sure we get both vaccines. We will have to continue to mask, social distance and strict handwashing for several months until herd immunity happens.

Wordpass, Yes you can. You are still immunocompromised! You may not form as many antibodies.as a normal person in Remission. Please be careful, take every precaution and I urge those who can have the vaccines to getting It. Love, Marcia 🌼🌸🌻
