So I have some questions on stem cell transplants. Do they do the harvest even if you don't need one yet just to have or do they wait till you need one and then do the harvest? I'm just wondering when my Dr said you need to get a stem cell transplant team together just in case you need one. She said you don't want to have to find one when you actually need it. After 5 first line treatment cycles my BM is 0 myeloma. My MRD still shows Myeloma (7000 per million) I'm about to start collection. My question is after collection, can I go right to maintenance or maybe continue a few more cycles to get the MRD as close to zero as possible and then go on maintenance?. I would then watch my numbers and if they cross a certain threshold, do a few more cycles and then do a transplant or maybe something new and improved will in place by then

Brother is getting his stem cell harvest today. How many days did it take to get sufficient cells for transplant and did you have side effects from the chemo administered before transplant day?
I was harvested 1 day to get enough stem cells for 2 transplants.

He is looking forward to having a month off treatment but no one realy talks about how you feel during the harvest.
The only problem I had was back pain from the Zarxio shots and I did feel tired weak always ate a good meal at cafeteria and went home and slept.
