I,m very interested in clinical trials as Car-T cell immunotherapy for MM patients and also for Dendritic cell Therapy
I am currently in clinical trial S1803 and just started cycle 4. the study is for Post SCT maintenance therapy using the gold standard Lenalidomide vs Lenalidomide and Daratumumab/rHuPH20. It just… read more
So the idea of cure got me thinking after I recently relapsed after a SCT. I have said this before, why call it a SCT when the real action is to use high dose chemo/poison (use that word poison in front of your oncologist and watch their reaction) to eradicate ALL of your bone marrow
Now use stem cells to regrow marrow. How/why does one single cancer cell come back and eventually clone and multiply? I though the Melphalan killed it all. So maybe a few survived and hid from the maintenance… read more
Yup. Myeloma is a tricky disease. Part of the reason I opted for ASCT right now was because of my concern that I would age out. Every major juncture in my treatment has involved an element of… read more
Larry I am sending you lots of hugs, stay strong and well.
Unfortunately, after my SCT in Dec 2022, the MM has relapsed. It only took 10 months before it started to show up in blood tests. I had a bone marrow biopsy and the plasma cell percentage has now doubled from the value when I was initially diagnosed. So I'm curious to know if others have relapsed after a SCT and what was the next method of treatment used
We are looking to get me on Car-T cell therapy, but I do not yet qualify based on the number of refractory treatments (drugs that did not… read more
Thanks Larry. This us something I need to research before I decide to get tested
I'm starting to think that cancer/myeloma are mutations that just like every living being do everything they can to… read more
I saw a trial in Texas that involved Tumeric injections Is anyone familiar with where that is?
I'd be interested in the results.
If you get a Complete or Very Good Response, please do not get a SCT. It will damage your immune system, most likely forever. You'll also lose your Life Time of Gained Immunities - Your Immune System.

Was it your choice or doctor recommended - any details would be great.
I'm now MRD Negative. My Doc has placed me on MM Meds holiday. Now with the Jan 2022 Report about MRD-SURE, I plan to stay in Labs Monitoring Mode with no MM Meds and only add back Revlimid, if a future Labs indicates the need. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Thanks,

just as I think of stopping maintenance my ANC dropped to 1..1
lucky me
I have had a stem cell transplant and been on maintenance therapy for 2 1/2 years. I have high risk MM with translocation 14;16. I have been MRD negative since the transplant. Will I need to stay on this treatment for as long as it works?

How are you doing? Are you still on the same treatment? My Mom stopped driving all the way to Seattle and her MM Oncologist worked with the local hospital to give her the infusions. Is that… read more

Why not try something natural? I just started reading Dr Brandy's book, "Beat Back Cancer naturally". It's an easy read and gives you a list of supplements that may help and a diet that may… read more
I just discovered I am ultra high risk smoldering MM due to having chromosome abnormalities 1q21, 1q22, and q32. It makes me less likely to benefit from treatment. Looking for best way to deal with it. ANyone have any experience?
I think they can as long as the trial guidelines are followed
