What Treatment Options Have You Used For Relapsing MM?
A MyMyelomaTeam Member asked a question 💭

Unfortunately, after my SCT in Dec 2022, the MM has relapsed. It only took 10 months before it started to show up in blood tests. I had a bone marrow biopsy and the plasma cell percentage has now doubled from the value when I was initially diagnosed. So I'm curious to know if others have relapsed after a SCT and what was the next method of treatment used
We are looking to get me on Car-T cell therapy, but I do not yet qualify based on the number of refractory treatments (drugs that did not… read more

I relapsed 15 months after SCT. I am currently on a clinical trial using a new drug named Talquetamab, Daratumumab, and Dexamethasone since Jan 2, 2024. February 13 my doctor informed me I was in remission again!! Praying it sticks…..

Thanks great news Colleen. I'm glad they found a treatment that works for you. Its good to know that SCT is not the end of the line. Its just another step along the journey.

Ripnlips, I’m really sorry to hear that you have relapsed. Cancer has a mind of its own. I’m sure they will find a good med combination to get you back into remission. Keep the faith! You are in my prayers! 🙏

I'm in Alberta Canada, so we have public health care and there is definitely a treatment protocol that the Oncologists have to follow as it is paid Healthcare. I believe because I'm young and strong they moved me into the newest most promising treatment that is very expensive. Fingers crossed this works for all of us. I know many good therapies are on the horizon for Myeloma.. Fingers 🤞

Thanks for your experience and kind words Dorian. I am glad you were able to find a drug combo that works. Discovering the SCT failed is shocking. But then you have no choice. Get pick your self back up and keep fighting. I am luck that I have 2 oncologist who are working together to first find a drug/combo that I will respond to and then also working to get me qualified for Car-T. I also have an appointment next week with an oncologist with another health care provider for a second opinion and treatment options. Especially if they offer Car-T in my city.
I live in Colorado Springs and had to spend 2+ months in Denver for the SCT and that really stunk. I'm hoping to find a Car-T "store" here in Col Sp.
