My husband found his balance was off some too. One of the exercises they gave him was to alternate standing on one leg while brushing his teeth. He still does it and it has really helped him.

I have another question. My neurologist is concerned about my balance. Does myeloma affect this?

Here's the thing: lab numbers and how your body *feels* don't always move in sync. There are a few reasons why you might still feel unwell even with improved kappa free light chain levels:

- Cumulative treatment effects — Myeloma treatments can leave lasting fatigue, nerve issues, or weakness that take time to resolve
- Bone or nerve damage — Any damage done before or during treatment doesn't automatically reverse when numbers improve
- Emotional and mental health — Anxiety and depression are very common with myeloma and can significantly affect how you feel physically
- Sleep disruption — Issues like hot flashes or night sweats can affect your energy and overall wellbeing
- Your body needs time — Healing is not always as fast as lab results improve It's really worth bringing this up with your care team. They can help identify what's driving the lingering symptoms and suggest ways to address them. You deserve to feel as good as those numbers suggest you should! 💙

Yes, I think our treatments and the disease itself affect our balance. Exercise and strength training help. Ask about a physical therapy consult if it's really a problem. We sure don't want to fall.

Pam, MM or the various treatments for it have certainly affected my balance. It is improving but seems to take a very long time. Best wishes!
