How much B12 do you take
Make sure it’s the Methyl B12, Not the Cyano-B12.

Also look at taking 10,000 mcg daily while you have low platelets

Now that I’m off MM Meds and MRD Negative I still take 5,000 to 10,000 mcgs daily (mostly 5,000)

While I was dealing with MM, I always took the 10,000 mcgs and 15,000IU Vit D3 daily plus many others. It’s really important to keep your Vit D levels at 85ng to 100ng.

Costco has a Methyl-B12 chewable at 5,000mcg per

Probably the easiest thing you can do is take a daily supplement of B12, which promotes healthy red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets ( the 3 major components of blood). Your body doesn't make vitamin B12 so you have to get it from the foods you eat or from supplements. When I join this group, one thing people encourage me to do was take B12…and I listened.

Yes, I have. It fluctuates, but mine has been as low as 8. The treatment I received was a blood transfusion. I've had a few of those as my platelet count as well as my hemoglobin count was low.

@A MyMyelomaTeam Member That’s a good question. I bounce between Nature Made Vitamin B12 1000 mcg, and Nature's Bounty Quick Dissolve Vitamin B-12 Tablets 1000mcg - 41,667% daily allowance. Also men’s One a Day which has vitamin B12 25 mcg - 1,042%. The good news is B12 is one of those vitamins the doesn’t accumulate in the body. Like vitamin C, what isn’t used is peed out.

Getting my myeloma under control, helped my platelets stay up. They were 66 thousand at diagnosis. They stayed up after I started treatment and then after I had a stem cell transplant. I had platelet transfusions a couple of times the first year I was diagnosed, but none since.
