Members resonated with the question about frequent chest colds, with many linking recurring infections to a weakened immune system caused by Multiple Myeloma and its treatments. Several members shared that monthly IVIG infusions helped raise their IgG levels and reduce the frequency of infections, with some also mentioning Bactrim, flu shots, and nasal sprays as helpful tools. A recurring theme was the importance of staying in close contact with your doctor when symptoms arise, since a compromised immune system can turn a simple cold into something more serious.

It's important to get to know of the Side Effects of Zometa & Xgeva. Especially for those that have had ASCTs, extended use of these can lead to Jaw Death (necrosis), which is irreversible.

In addition, these Bone Strengthening Meds only place a thin shell around the bone, can lead to Bone Pain and do Not fill-in lesion holes.

Here's my Protocol for Bone Health that my Research caused me to implement prior to my Treatment (Revlimid and Dex) for a Bone Lesion in 2023.

Prior to treatment, I had been loading up on Vit D (moved from 38ng to 84ng - taking 10,000IU daily). Then plenty of Magnesium (400mg magnesium glycinate + 200mg magnesium citrate daily), Vit C (2000mg daily), Vit K2 (200mcg daily), Vit K (120mcg daily), Calcium Carbonate (1500mg - 2 TUMs daily), Strontium Citrate (680mg late at night - 2hrs away from any calcium intake).

The Proper Pre & Probiotics can help to create Butyrate in the colon, along with a healthy Plant Based Diet.

Butyrate is capable of restoring the proper balance of IL-17 activity that is normally disrupted by active MM. When IL-17 is restored, then the osteoblasts activity is available to perform bone regeneration, provided adequate amount of Minerals and Vitamins are available.

The Pro and Pre Biotics that I used are:
Pendulum Glucose Control - 2 pills daily - Probiotic
Microbiome MegaPre - one scoop daily in 16oz water – Prebiotic.

I know of others doing the same with very good results.

In Jan 2022, I had 5 monthly Xgeva shots and discontinued them permanently as of May 2022.

My last Dexascan a year ago showed a 19% increase in Bone Density at my Lumbar region and restoration to completely Normal Levels from a previous -1.8 (18 months prior) to then -0.3.

My doc started monthly IVIG and he said that will help in my body fighting off colds. Maybe ask your doc that. Colds scare me as they always seem to get worse and go to lungs or cause infections. Good luck and Im looking for answers to that question also.

All my unaffected immunoglobins were low at diagnosis. My IgG was high due to myeloma. They all remain low now. Probably due to Darzalex? I get IVIG monthly.

I’m adding this to my other reply. I just saw my oncologist last week for my once a month visit, and my light chains came back at 400 and my doctor likes to see it at 500. I’ve got colds twice this summer which is unusual so that explains what you’re going through. I go to Florida for six months which I am in Florida now and I’ll see the oncologist down here but my doctor back home. Suggest that I get an IV I G to boost up my immune system. As a matter of fact I just got my flu shot today and next week I’ll get my Covid shot.

Besides monthly IVG infusion I'm also on Bactrim which protects the lungs from MRSA, E Coli, Pneumonia and other bacterial strains.
