My MSpike is indeterminate. My Dr acts like my cancer is no big deal, but doesn't calm my fears either.

The MSpike was barely detectable.

Teresa6, this disease is nothing to be fooled around with and you must have confidence in your cares. It is too complicated to feel like you are the only one paying attention - you need to find Dr's you trust and feel confident in. They are out there! Needs to be a specialist, not a general oncologist. My local oncologist was a real loser (she is leaving now) and acted offended that she would just be following directives from Mayo's but I didn't need her to do anything but follow my specialists orders and I told her so. So my "real" doctor is 8 hours away and the locals are just good enough to follow his orders.

When I was diagnosed my Kappa was 105. After chemo they never went to normal but did go to 40's. Every 2-3 mo when I go back they've continuously gotten higher. My IgA #'s are good, but my Kappa is now 67. They've never been normal. My oncologist makes me feel like I worry for nothing. I have had the worst luck with Dr's. He never runs the same lab tests. I've never had a Urine test for my kidneys. I was diagnosed 08/2021. Had a bone marrow biopsy 7/2021. I asked to have another one 11/2022 and he acted as if he took offense to it. The first one he put me out and it was done in the hospital. The second one he did, he wouldn't put me out and did it in his office. It hurt like h$#@! He acts like my cancer is not important. IT IS TO ME! I had another opinion and they told me I didn't even have cancer. I had MGUS. Can you go from 30% cancer cells biopsy back to MGUS? I am so confused.

I have Kappa light chain myeloma and the light chain labs are the only numbers I look at - no M spikes at all and all my other labs are normal. It is kappa light chains that I watch every month. Depending on which lab, results are reported as mg/dl or mg/l so decimal point changes, ie: same result is reported as either 2.1 or 21 etc. Normal kappa light chains result is below 19, causes for worry are when headed towards 100 (or 1.9 normal vs 10 is high) Mine have been running in the 20's with Velcade maintenance except when I have been really sick (I had bad RSV 2 months ago) and my number jumped into the 40's when I missed a dose of Velcade. My kappa light chains were in the 400's when I was diagnosed.
You need a specialist. I highly recommend Mayo Clinic!

Having an M Spike depends on what type of Multiple Myeloma you have.
