Anyone Else With IgA Kappa?.
A MyMyelomaTeam Member asked a question 💭

I was diagnosed with IgA Kappa multiple myeloma. The Dr. Said it wasn't the most common. I'm on RVD therapy and thank goodness I haven't had any reactions. My oncologist at Dana Farber is adding zometa to the mix. Is there anyone else with this diagnosis and what does anyone know about zometa.

Yes, I have IgA myeloma; however, I have IgA Kappa and IgA Lambda and I am biclonal. Which is rare but outcomes are generally the same - what’s interesting with me now is the physicians believe that I have non secretory which has switched. I went from monoclonal to biclonal within a month, oligoclonal and biclonal to it disappearing which the M protein didn’t really disappear but doesn’t secrete. I was just told yesterday by my oncologist that in her career she hasn’t had a case like mine. What I can say is I have a lot of spinal issues compression fractures and Myelomalacia, etc.

Wishing you all the best! People on this forum are great as a resource and support.

I was IgA Kappa. Originally at 5915 IgA (400 normal max). Had Darzalex FasPro + RVD and Xgeva (Xgeva monthly for 5 months). 2-1/2 months Induction and 4-1/2 months of reduced dosage Maintenance. MRD Negative (no SCT) and currently on Monitoring with no MM Meds as per MRD-SURE. No longer need Xgeva. Quarterly clonoSEQ testing for this first year (from Labs - not BMB). See if you can get Darzalex FasPro immunotherapy added to your treatment - major game changer for getting to a deep remission for CD38 type MM.

I was diagnosed with IgA Kappa, Biclonal. Then it went to IgA Kappa Oligoclonal and back to Biclonal. There isn't much research on Biclonal from what I understand but it responds the same as any other type of Myeloma from what I understand. It just suggests that there are two M-spikes (bands) on the electrophoresis (or immunofixation). It's one of them. But yes, I was told that IgA Kappa can be more aggressive but there are so many great treatments out here and trials that it is very manageable. Bi-Clonals are rare also, but again, does not significantly alter if at all the course of treatment.

I take revlimid everyday with no break and get a zometa infusion every three months. The first time I had an infusion, I had flu like symptoms for a couple of days. But since then I haven't had anymore. I have other symptoms but not sure if it's the revlimid or the zometa.
