I agree with the AI answer. It's worth a discussion with a myeloma specialist. I would also think drinking enough water would be a good idea to protect your kidneys. Having smoldering myeloma is very anxiety provoking for sure.
Hi Stephanie, it is funny that you ask that because when you are SMM they let the ratio rise to 100 to 1, yet once MM is active they want it to strictly be below the 1.65 to 1 ratio. I don't understand this rational, I think what would be most important is if MM is stable among other things, like a BMB & blood tests.
A free light chain ratio of 3.33 with kappa light chains at 36.4 is worth paying attention to. The normal kappa/lambda ratio typically falls between 0.26 and 1.65, so 3.33 is above the normal range.
Here's a simple breakdown of what this means:
- Kappa light chains at 36.4 — this is elevated above the normal range Show Full Answer
Thank you Sharon!
The ratio is outa whack but not bad.( Mine is about 35.) The numbers are both quite low though. There’s normally a higher ratio of lambda than kappa, but I’d love to have numbers that low. Have they been moving much? If they stay that stable, I’d be smiling.
