Fatigue is very common with myeloma, and yes — it can persist even when you're not actively on treatment. The disease itself, along with its effects on the body, can leave you feeling drained on a regular basis.
Daily napping is something many people with myeloma experience. Here's what MyMyelomaTeam members have shared:
- "I battle fatigue all the time and am forced to take short naps during the day."
- "I take naps throughout the day and sleep at night for three or four hours."
- "I try to stay on a schedule of activities every day. I take little cat naps in between activities."
You're definitely not alone in this. That said, it's worth mentioning your fatigue to your doctor, especially since it's been ongoing. They can check whether something treatable — like low red blood cell levels — might be contributing to how tired you feel.
In the meantime, a few things that may help manage fatigue include:
- Keeping a consistent sleep and wake schedule
- Getting some light physical activity, like walking
- Limiting long daytime naps so they don't disrupt nighttime sleep
- Staying well hydrated
- Eating well with plenty of fruits and vegetables
Small changes can sometimes make a real difference in energy levels day to day.

After treatments and Stem Cell Transplant I noticed bouts of fatigue even though I was doing good. My labs started showing B12 and iron deficiency. Also I was having some neuropathy. I changed my diet up to include more foods with B12 and iron. I take Centrum daily vitamin for women over 50 with iron. I also take Immune Factors. It is an herbal product. I keep a bottle of B12 in my bag and take it when I feel fatigue starting. Since taking the Immune Factors and vitamin, I take less B12 during the day. I do nap when I need to, but less now. I hope this helps.

Yes, it is normal. My wife didn't believe me took her 4 years to see that it was the treatments that made it so tired.
