@A MyMyelomaTeam Member - Congratulations! I just finished my fourth treatment yesterday. Minimal side effects, too. I just make sure I take my zofran 8 hours after treatment. I’ve had an occasional nausea feeling. They say an empty stomach can contribute to it. I eat six small “meals” a day.
I did have fluid retention after my 3rd treatment. I weigh daily so saw I was up 3 pounds. Called the nurse. I didn’t have any other symptoms so just elevating my legs helped. We’ve adjusted my dexamethasone pre-treatment dose, from 20 mg to 8 mg. I only took 16 mg yesterday and am fine today. But it impacts my sleep. So only 8 mg next week.
I keep a daily diary. I also focus on the positive things in my life.
Praying you continue to not have side effects! ✝️🙏🛐

That said, side effects can appear at different times for different people. Some may experience them early on, while others notice them after several treatments as the medication builds up in their system.
Here are some things worth keeping in mind:
- Side effects can vary depending on which drug combination you're receiving
- Cumulative effects (where side effects build over time) are possible with some treatments
- Some side effects may be subtle at first, like fatigue or mild nausea
- Regular follow-up testing helps your care team catch any changes early The most important thing is to stay in close contact with your healthcare team and report any new symptoms as they arise — no matter how minor they seem. They can help distinguish between normal responses and anything that needs attention.
Enjoying feeling good right now is absolutely valid — long may it continue! 🙂
