Hi Gary, here in Canada our provincial Center For Disease Control has an Immunization program that is pre-determined for all Stem cell Transplant patients so it was automatically scheduled for me.

That’s what I’m concerned with in the MMR. My white count is low, and I’m concerned about having to fight with a live vaccine. But, the oncologist seems to think if I got measles it would be worse than getting the vaccine. I’m a little conflicted about it

I would hope your oncologist or stem cell specialist could steer you in the right direction as where to go. I know some cancer institutes have vaccination clinics. Keep us posted.

My stem cell doc wants me to get the MMR especially with measles showing up in the US in different places and feels getting measles would be more detrimental than the vaccine. My issue now is finding someone to give md the vaccine. Primary care doc doesn’t keep it because it goes bad before he uses it all, health department has no protocol with stem cell transplants to give it, pharmacy not keep it because usually given by pediatricians. Any suggestions? I’m a week away from 24 months in remission and the mmr is last ones to get.

That's great that he able to get his MMR done without issues, one less thing to worry about.
