Hives And Rash After BMT With Revlimid
A MyMyelomaTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hi! My husband had a BMT in July. He is back on Revlimid (about 6 weeks) and now he has a rash and hives. They seem to get worse when he works out (sweats) and it is contained to his upper body and face. Assuming it is from the Revlimid. He is also getting Xgeva injections once a month. He never had a problem with either medication prior to the BMT. He was on RVD before transplant. He was using Benadryl but his prostate numbers started to elevate and he was afraid that the Benadryl was causing… read more

I was on Revlimid for 10 months before I experienced a rash. That rash however moved to different parts of my body and caused my arms and legs to swell up. I tried benadryl, claritn, etc. When I described it to my myeloma specialist, he suggested I take a vacation from the revlimid. He explained that since my m-protein was below 0.1 g/dL, that I could afford the break. I did enjoy the next year and half being treatment free. However, my numbers started to climb the last two months and next month I am going to start a trio of revlimid, dexamathasone and daratumaub. I am told that taking dex with these other drugs should help prevent or at least lessen the effect of the rash I experienced previously. Of course, we will see. Anyway, I have to say that as much as I enjoyed the vacation from drug therapy, I think it would have been wiser to have played around with the dosage of revlimid to control the rash and allowed the drug to continue to keep my myeloma at bay. Seems risky to let that m-person up off the mat when you have them pinned down.

My husband was on revlimid and ninlaro. Not sure which one caused the problem but much like Cat described. A lower dose may help as well

Hi
My first medication that I was put on was revlimid. On my very first dose (1) pill, I broke out in a solid raised rash from my nose to my knees. It was beat red and itched like crazy. Contact your doctor. I had to get a steroid and take benedryl and tagment. I had that rash for about 3 months. It peeled just like a sunburn but in layers. I was then put on velcade. I had a sct in 2016 and am in remission but still get velcade for maintenance.
I hope he feels better
