Paulette,
The cramping is from the Smoldering MM taking calcium out of your bones and muscles. I found taking supplements helped to stop the cramps and strengthen my bones. Zometa which is what is usually recommended, stops the whole process, so no more rebuilding of bones. I have found MRM Bone Maximizer III to work well for me. I take 1400 mg a day, with Extra D3 to absorb it, K2 which tells the calcium to go to the bones, and Vitamins C, A and E complex which altogether help support the bones.

I am still in the smoldering stage and I do have muscle aches in my legs and arms.

Paulette,
The Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation is a great place to understand your Smoldering Multiple Myeloma. They have a Patient Handbook that you can print or download. I found it very helpful. They also have Patient Navigators to talk to.

It sounds like you're asking about pain management during the smoldering myeloma stage — great question!

During smoldering myeloma, symptoms are typically minimal, but some people do experience discomfort. Here are a few pain management options that may be considered:

- Bisphosphonates (like zoledronic acid or denosumab) — these help strengthen bones and can reduce bone-related pain
- OTC pain relievers — but be cautious, NSAIDs like ibuprofen or aspirin should only be taken with your doctor's approval, as they can interact with treatments
- Opioids/analgesics — for more significant pain, a doctor may prescribe medications like codeine or morphine Always check with your healthcare team before starting any new medication — even over-the-counter options. What seems harmless can sometimes interfere with your treatment plan or affect your kidneys.

Hello, Great to meet you; not sure of any name other than Smoldering. And thanks on the vitamins.
