Members discussed whether a plant-based diet, no alcohol, and high-quality supplements can help slow the progression of multiple myeloma, with many sharing personal experiences and practical tips. Several members suggested specific supplements like Curcumin, Astaxanthin, Quercetin, D3, and Zinc, and one member recommended a book called 'Beat Back Cancer Naturally' and a clinical trial at Memorial Sloan Kettering focused on diet and disease progression. A recurring theme was that while healthy eating and lifestyle choices may help with earlier stages like MGUS or SMM, active myeloma often requires medical treatment, and members encouraged each other to seek second opinions and stay informed.

I have read it does but people that eat plant based also get MM. I tried to eat plant based but I crashed and burned. I think the key is to stay away from junk food (processed foods, seed oils, etc) and exercise.

I don't believe so if you already have active myeloma, as long as you eat healthy, sleep well, exercise and avoid as much stress as possible that would be better. Enjoying an occasional cheat is ok too.

Norma, I was plant based before I got MM, still got stage 3. I am in remission off meds now, didn't have a plant based diet. But now that I am off meds, I will be more strict about what I put in my body. Since the meds are not curing me anymore.

Linda, you might want to consider contacting Dr. Uri Shah at Memorial Sloan Kettering. She conducts clinical trials on how to stop progressing from MGUS/Smoldering with a plant based diet.

For MGUS and SMM, many have been very successful.

Once fully Active Stage 2 or more, a short treatment is your best option
