Hey Cheri, I am so very sorry you are going thru this. I had COVID in mid May. No idea where I might have gotten it, but it sure kicked my behind. I did not have the complications that you are going through but I am just now feeling like myself and doing my usual activities 6 weeks later. Finally over the lingering congestion, cough, no taste, no smell, sweating from the smallest physical effort. Yes, very UGH! Not feeling well for so long on top of MM really messed with my mental outlook (I am usually a very positive person) and my overall wellbeing. I was feeling defeated, which is just not me. I don't mean to sound glib, and you may be doing just fine with your mental outlook, but what made a difference for me was making an effort each day to focus on something positive and doing some small activity to keep myself moving. My mental symptoms began to improve along with my physical symptoms. That mind-body connection is no joke. I sure hope you feel much better soon. Sending many hugs and best wishes for strength and a quick recovery! Lyn

I was hoping Covid would just disappear and go away. I guess not. Too many people are getting it again. Iโ€™m sorry you both have suffered so much.๐Ÿ’• I may be rethinking wearing a mask.

That sounds absolutely exhausting โ€” 9 hours in the ER is no small thing, and dealing with multiple issues at once while managing myeloma is genuinely tough. Sending you lots of strength! ๐Ÿ’ช

With myeloma, your immune system is already compromised, so respiratory infections like COVID-19 and bronchitis can hit harder and take longer to recover from. It's really important to follow up closely with your care team after an ER visit like this. Here are some things that may help during your recovery:

- Rest and pace yourself โ€” don't push through fatigue. Plan your day around your energy levels and avoid overexerting yourself
- Breathing exercises โ€” if you're experiencing shortness of breath, try slow, controlled breathing: inhale through your nose, hold for 1-2 seconds, then exhale slowly through pursed lips. Repeat up to 10 times
- Stay hydrated โ€” this supports both kidney function and recovery, which is especially important with myeloma
- Monitor your symptoms closely โ€” if breathing difficulties worsen, contact your doctor immediately
- Follow potassium guidance โ€” your care team may recommend dietary adjustments or supplements to restore your levels safely

The most important step is keeping your myeloma specialist informed about this setback, as it may affect your current treatment plan.
