@A MyMyelomaTeam Member,
I’m sorry to hear you were sick for so long. Your immune system must still be recovering. Thank you for sharing with MGUS and Smoldering patients what to look out for when they start treatment. It will help by ending treatment sooner so they don’t get permanent neuropathy.

Hi Paula,
They referred to this recent as a Super Flu with many people being hospitalized. Both my wife and I had it and it was a very bad Flu.
The very interesting part was it also caused my clonoSEQ Blood Test to report one of my MM Genes as Greater than Zero and less than One.
Basically my body was working overtime to make Antibodies to fend off the Virus.
Fortunately, since I insist on getting the SIEP as part of my Monthly Labs (they normally only do the SPEP to look for an MSpike value), the SIEP was able to show me it was in the IgG Band and not anything to do with my MM.
Though I remain MRD Negative and on No MM Meds for over 2-1/2 years, I’ve twice had very small MSpikes of 0.04 and recently a 0.05.
Both were False indicators. The reason I know for certain is since I get Full Monthly Labs that includes the SIEP, these two were in the IgG Band. When I had my real MM Activity, I was IgA.
There’s a lot of reasons for low MSpikes. My recent was due to catching the very nasty Flu that was going around 3 months ago (it took 6 weeks to completely clear).
Others like vaccines, EvuSheld, Covid shots and many others can produce a short term low MSpike in the IgG Band. Problem is if you only get the SPEP Labs test, you’ll know the Amount of the MSpike but not its anti-body Band.
Be sure to check your SIEP Labs and if you’re getting DarzFasPro for Maintenance, be very sure to get the #123218 Labs - this is the SIEP IFE, Dara-Specific Lab that will correctly identify and remove a False MSpike of up to 0.2 (and possibly even a little higher).
Shame that our Treatment Teams (Docs, Oncs, Specialists and Nurses) don’t understand these things.
It’s easy for us to Worry over Nothing (due to their lack of awareness of these important details), which is very harmful to our Mental Recovery.
Reading the AI Response, it makes no mention of these Facts.
Yes, mine fluctuate. They get better when I eat better and take more supplements. I make a kale, apple cider, celery and frozen strawberry smoothie. I actually like it. I make a lot and freeze it in small glasses, so I can have a little each day. I highly recommend Dr Brandy’s book “Beat Back Cancer Naturally.” He gives you lots of tips on how to keep your SMM stable so you don’t progress.

I am Kappa Light Chain MGUS and yes, my M spike fluctuates, and is sometimes undetectable.
"No, an M-spike is not always detected with Kappa Light Chain MGUS. While most MGUS types involve a full immunoglobulin (IgG/IgA) that creates a visible M-spike, Light Chain MGUS is specifically defined by an abnormal free light chain (FLC) ratio without a detectable M-spike on protein electrophoresis."
