My Oncologist told me when he gave me the news that I have Active Multiple Myeloma, "The one thing we don't want you to worry about is paying for treatment." There is a Patient Advocate at my cancer center who takes care of all the financial grants and aid. By the next day I had a grant and haven't had to pay for much at all since October till now. They can help you out with this. Let me know if there is anything else I can do to help. I added you to my team. Hang tight, we've got your back. ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Have you checked in with the Patient Advocate about applying for a grant to help pay for your treatment? First day, when my Oncologist diagnosed me with active Multiple Myeloma, he told me that the one thing they did not want patients to worry about was paying for treatment. I met with the advocate, and within 24 hours, I had grant money to pay for my treatment and haven't had to pay for anything yet. See what they can do for you.

Thank you. We've been blessed that his treatments are covered. The oral medications he takes was only $42 for 90-days.

How can you manage the costs of multiple myeloma therapy without a medication plan?

Even with Medicare and a supplement, medication costs can be overwhelming. The good news is there are several ways to get help with these expenses.

Talk to your healthcare team first. Your oncologist can be instrumental in finding financial assistance. A MyMyelomaTeam member shared: "I finally got a grant that covers my copay, after paying high copays for three years. My oncologist was instrumental in obtaining that."

Copay assistance programs are available from the companies that manufacture myeloma medications. They can help reduce your out-of-pocket costs and may assist with insurance coverage issues.

Financial assistance organizations can provide significant support:
- Patient Advocate Foundation helps find financial support you may be eligible for
- Leukemia & Lymphoma Society offers various assistance programs
- Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation provides financial aid
- HealthWell Foundation helps with medication costs

Prescription drug discounts through websites like GoodRx can help you compare prices and find discounts across different pharmacies.

Oncology social workers at your treatment center can connect you with local and national programs specifically designed to help with medication costs. Most hospitals have these professionals on staff.

Don't let cost concerns go unaddressed. Many people have found solutions, and there are more resources available than you might expect.
