Members offered heartfelt perspectives on the question of whether relapse is inevitable in multiple myeloma, with several sharing that they have been in remission for years or even decades, including one member who was told by their oncologist they are cured after nearly twenty years. Many emphasized the importance of staying vigilant through regular bloodwork, adhering to maintenance treatments, eating well, exercising daily, and maintaining hope, while acknowledging that remission timelines vary widely from months to many years. A recurring theme was the power of gratitude, persistence, and refusing to give up, even when facing high-risk genetics or difficult prognoses, with members encouraging each other to focus on quality of life and the possibility of long-term remission.

Nearly twenty years in remission for me. This s past summer, my Oncologist told me I'm CURED, yup, my Oncologist said it. Still do bloodwork, though. Hope springs eternal. As I've told others, I met him one time seven years ago. Video phones a pretty neat.

Hi Vikram, I have been on the same treatments since my transplant, December 20th, 2017. Darzalex faspro and Pomalyst 2 mg. Both my doctors encourage me to continue maintenance. My labs are good except for low immunoglobins. I get IVIG monthly. I do gave high risk genetics with 17p deletion. I have never been mrd negative. My specialist tells me he takes people off maintenance all the time, because they are mrd negative and doing well. So, I don't think everyone is destined to relapse. But we have to stay vigilant. Take our drugs as recommended, exercise every day, drink water, eat non processed food, enjoy our friends and families.
