My shoulders, forearms and lower legs lit up. Is it just inflammation or neuropathy?
@A MyMyelomaTeam Member,
I’ve had neuropathy since 2014. I finally started taking Bob’s Red Mill Nutritional Yeast. 2 heaping teaspoons a day. It really did make a difference. Now it’s tolerable. My mom never got neuropathy, even after a full schedule of strong chemo for ovarian cancer, but she took Nutritional yeast 3-5 times a day. In juice or with milk and unsulphered blackstrap molasses. Her blood work always looked good. I don’t know why I have tried taking more, it’s just not a habit yet.

@A MyMyelomaTeam Member,
Your kidneys may be in trouble. Call your doctor right away. MM can damage the kidneys. Too many on this site did not know they had MM until they ended up in the ER with kidney failure. One thing you can do is weigh yourself. Are you 3 pounds over your regular weight? When I eat salty foods and don't drink enough water, my stomach blows up.

AI, says neuropathy with inflammation can light up on a PET scan. But, I wouldn't trust Dr. Google. It takes an experienced cancer radiologist to figure out what's what on our scans.
@A MyMyelomaTeam Member inflammation will show up on a PET scan. The last one I had they asked if I had arthritis, because it will show up on the scan.
Can PET scans show neuropathy or inflammation in your shoulders, forearms, and lower legs?
PET scans typically detect areas of increased metabolic activity, which often indicates active myeloma or inflammation rather than neuropathy itself. Neuropathy is nerve damage that usually doesn't show up on PET scans.
