Mine lit up bright yellow on my shoulders, lower arms, back of knees and outer lower legs. Is this just inflammation?
Good morning! PET scans are "fun." Sorry you had to have one. I've had 3 this year after a relapse. Areas of activity have shown up on bones and lymph nodes. (My swollen clavicular lymph nodes were the big indicator of the relapse.)
The day before the PET scan, I eat only meat, vegetables and cheese - no caffeine and no carbs. (Yes, I am a terror the day before a PET Scan!) 🤣. I was also told to sit around and watch television and absolutely no exercise, as that might cause muscles to "light up" on the scan. (Not saying that is what happened in your case, just sharing what I know, which probably isn't much.).
Hope you are doing ok. I know you have several health issues you are managing. Take care, and God bless! 🙏🏻♥️
I only paid attention to the bones, mostly ribs and definitly my hips. Large lesions there. I think i am due for another one soon.
My last PET lit up on my right side glute after a fall. It was the inflammation of the muscles.
One of my PET scans showed activity in my left femur, so far, never in any muscles.
Did your PET scan show uptake in muscles rather than bones?
PET scans use a radioactive sugar solution that cells absorb for energy. Cancer cells typically use more energy than healthy cells, which is why they light up brightly on PET scans.
However, muscles can also show uptake on PET scans, especially if they've been Show Full Answer
