Same to you, MD, there really is no right answer, you have to follow your heart and your personal set of circumstances. Seems SCT does not prolong survival just gets you in remission faster and in my case I would have to stay on maintenance meds anyway, regardless of outcome.
Thank you Rick and you sound like something i going through now.I have to talk to my doctor this week and I will definitely have a nice talk to.I really don't wanna go backwards if all my blood work is getting better and I'm feeling better as well.
Thanks again bud, keep up the good work and good luck to you on your journey!!
Hi MD, I had SMM for about 4 years before being diagnosed with Stage 3 high risk Lambda light chain MM with the 17p deletion in March '24 at the age of 67. My oncologist and a specialist both agreed that I should have an SCT ASAP. But I said no because I wanted to work until 70, live alone and had no one to take care of my in recovery, besides I was asymptomatic with no side effects from treatments. So they put me on maintenance meds in August and I achieved remission in October. I am still in remission asymptomatic with no side effects from medication. Retirement at 70 looks very realistic now.
Thank you so do much and I really appreciate your response!!
