A bone marrow biopsy involves using a hollow needle to extract a sample of bone marrow for testing. This procedure helps confirm a diagnosis and assess your condition. Many MyMyelomaTeam members recommend asking about conscious sedation for the procedure to make it more comfortable. Consider asking your healthcare team about getting a port placed if you don't already have one. A port can be placed in your chest or arm and makes it easier to receive medications and have blood drawn without repeated needle sticks. While this requires a minor surgical procedure, many find it very helpful for ongoing care. After the biopsy, your healthcare team will use the results along with other tests like blood work and imaging to determine if there have been any changes in your condition that require additional monitoring or treatment.

Thanks for this. Have my bone marrow biopsy on Wednesday and took the advice for mild sedation. Results on July 2.
