I’ve been off maintenance chemo for 4 months due to low ANC’s. But will resume chemo this week. Darzalex Fastpro and Revlimid 2.5 mg. I’d like to just do Rev or natural supplements. I’m looking for most natural, least toxic treatment. The side effects and chances of 2nd cancer caused by these 2 drugs cause me to not want to continue them. Any input on a better way to stay in remission?

Research shows that myeloma patients stay in control longer while on maintenance. You need to discuss this with your specialist. Mine tells me the benefits way out weigh the risks. Not one of us want to take these meds longterm. But there is currently no cure for this disease. It's the best option for now.

I was on Revlimid after SCT, but it caused serious problems with my heart. I was switched to Darzalex and I still receive it monthly along with IVIg infusions. I have some MM cell mutations that will likely be the reason I will never be in total remission or treatment-free. But I’m okay with that since this disease is so different in each of us. I can’t worry about whether I can be like someone else, I can just be grateful for the care I get and that it’s the best thing for me. My advice to everyone is do what you can and rest when you need to.

Revlamid is the best to stay in remission longer even though it does have side effects making you sleep a lot feeling tired pale anemic.
I had trouble with shingles and now an itchy rash dry scaly skin that I have to ask my oncologist about.
I’m taking B-12 drops in the place of iron cause doctor said get off iron as it feeds cancer also sugar feeds cancer it loves low oxygen acidic environment to grow.
I’m trying hard to stay on Revlamid.

It's understandable to be concerned about maintenance therapy side effects. However, research shows that maintenance therapy, particularly with Revlimid (lenalidomide), significantly improves remission duration. Studies have found that patients using lenalidomide maintenance therapy stayed in remission for about 57 months compared to 30 months without maintenance treatment. While Revlimid can cause side effects like fatigue, digestive issues, and muscle cramps, it's currently considered the best-tolerated maintenance drug and is the only FDA-approved single drug for myeloma maintenance therapy after bone marrow transplant. Any changes to your maintenance therapy should be discussed with your healthcare team, as they can often help manage side effects while maintaining the benefits of the treatment.
