The financial burden of myeloma treatment is a common concern. The first step is to speak with your oncology team about financial assistance options. Many hospitals have social workers and financial counselors who can help connect you with financial aid programs and offer tips for saving money on medical bills. They can also help set up payment plans or find charity care options.

If you have insurance but still struggle with costs, pharmaceutical assistance programs offered by drug manufacturers can help reduce medication expenses. Many myeloma medication manufacturers have copay assistance programs and can help work with your insurance provider. One MyMyelomaTeam member shared that their oncologist helped them obtain a grant that covered their copays after years of high payments. Don't hesitate to reach out to organizations like the Patient Advocate Foundation for help with insurance claims and finding financial support. Consider asking a trusted family member or friend to help manage the financial aspects while you focus on your health - trying to handle everything alone can become overwhelming. If you're uninsured, explore options through healthcare.gov during open enrollment periods. Additionally, some hospitals are designated as Hill-Burton Facilities that provide free or low-cost medical services to those who cannot afford them. Remember, there are always options available - don't let financial concerns prevent you from getting the care you need.

want to share a little update about my journey. Recently I went for a CT scan of my lungs, and today the doctor explained the results to me. They found some changes in my left lung compared to before. There are areas where the lung lining looks thicker, and a small mass in the lower part of the left lung has grown a bit since my last scan. Because of these changes, the doctors want to do another test called a bronchoscopy, where they use a small camera to look inside the airways and take samples to understand it better. Hearing all this was not easy for me. It made me emotional because it feels like one thing after another. But at the same time, I am thankful that I am already under medical care and the doctors are taking steps to find out exactly what
