My husband has been on maintenance for five years

I think the vast majority of people go onto maintenance therapy after their initial treatment. Most times it involves the same drugs but at a lower dose. For instance Revlimid in induction is at 25mg and in maintenance at 10mg. People stay on these drugs all their life but some go off after several years after having no progression with their condition. From what I’ve read, the science isn’t there to say one way or another to stay on or go off. I’m sure your Dr has a strong opinion. The whole idea is to keep the disease in check as it’s incurable and relapse is a given.

After induction therapy I ended up at VGPR (Very Good Partial Remission). I’ve moved on to maintenance therapy, which is just like normal therapy, with all the same drugs, but Velcade is given once every two weeks instead of every week.
