Hi Curt,
I have been on Zometa for a couple years and have no issues with it. I was also told to make sure you get dental check ups regularly. My dentist knows I am on the Zometa, but I have not had any major dental issues to worry about it. Regular cleaning and fillings are of no concern. My dentist said it is when you have tooth extractions and surgery under you gums like implants is when they worry.

I had to get a letter from my dentist to clear me before my dentist would out me on it.

Good luck!

Curt,
I have been taking zometa for almost 20 years. (I'vehadMM for 20 yrs this spring.)
The only side effect I get is bone pain, like the others have shared. Not severe, but like "growing pains" if you remember what they felt like.
The main warning they have w/ zometa is watching for jaw pain, not having major dental work done without consulting your doctor & dentist. Bring on guard against osteoporosis.

Hi Curt,
I have had two Zometa infusions with a third scheduled for the second week of April. With the first I felt bone pain for the first few days, Tylenol did not help. Decided to be more pro active the next time around and as the medical guru's often tell me stay ahead of the pain I added Oxy for the first couple of days which made a big difference for me ( don't really like taking Oxy but dislike the bone pain more ). Will do the same for the up and coming April infusion, hope your experience will be easy peasy ... How you holding up these days? Working on any new songs ?

Hi curt! I have been on and off it too for years and have had minor side effects. Some jaw trouble...and an abscessed tooth. Which may be unrelated to zolmeta but i know tmj issues are a concern. Yes, i have tmj issues and wear a night guard, take smaller bites of food, and soft foods...easy to chew. But nothing i cant cope with and there are more positives than negatives with this treatment. For me anyway!

Been on for two years have 2 more treatments remaining. I load up on water 1 Tylenol,1 Benadryl about an hour before. I also load up on calcium rich foods the week leading up to and the week after. No side affects since doing this. My first treatment not go well I was unprepared.
