Has Anyone With SMM Had Any Success In Lowering Numbers Using Diet And Supplements?
I smoldered for a year while taking 8 grams of curcumin C3 complex with bioperine and a whole food plant based diet. My numbers basically stayed steady. I never progressed except by definition (new MM definitions changed in 2019 moving me into MM by definition). Now, I was never under the impression curcumin would eliminate MM but I do credit my steady numbers to the high dose of this spice. The reason for this conviction is the story of Dieneke Ferguson (just google) and her crediting Margaret in Margaret's Corner Blog who has been smoldering for years also taking 8 grams of curcumin.
My dilemma came when I had to decide to go into treatment now and kick MM good or try to "smolder" like Margaret for years. As I read Margaret's blog I realized that the life of a "smolderer" for years can be filled with a lot of anxiety as well, waiting for the results of each 3 month blood test as it vacillates wondering if the next ones will show real progression. I decided that if curcumin does have suppressive powers than I would rather be suppressing an MM that was nearly non-existent than trying to suppress one that is on the precipice of being full blown.
Thus, I accepted treatment in a clinical trying using Blenrep (in my story in detail) at age 75 with no SCT. I am now MRD Negative 10 to the minus 6 and on no more MM meds at all as of June this year. I am back to taking 8 grams of curcumin with blood tests every 3 months without the stress and worry that Margaret has. I probably won't know the results of this decision for years but at age 77 I'll take several years of PFS.
Hope this helps.

My wife has gallstones and doesn't want to take Curcumin due to the possibility of a gallbladder issue. It seems that Curcumin can cause gallbladder contractions that might lead to a stone getting stuck. My recent PET/CT mentioned I have gallstones - no mention of how much or the size. At this time, I'm continuing with my 8 grams C3 Curcumin daily - it's too important to me to keep MM in Complete Remission - there's too much evidence that it should help.
Please be cautious with high amounts of Curcumin. Gall bladder attacks have been documented. My husband required emergency gallbladder removal while taking large amounts
