I found out in 2018 that I had smoldering myeloma. I checked my last lab tests, seems that my kappa free light chain and kappa/lambda Has risen a little while my M protein has gone down. Does that mean that I am no longer smoldering and now how MM? I try to understand. Just don’t know what to think.

I hope that the drug puts you in remission. I’m so sorry that you have to go through this!❤️ My kappa free light chain went up from 1586 to 1800+ and my kappa lamda went up a little as well however my m protein went down. I saw these results prior to my visit which is Tuesday and got in a frenzy because I don’t quite understand what numbers mean that I am not smoldering. Thank yo, I will let you know my results❤️

No I'm not smoldering. I've been fighting the disease for over 4 years. I'm high risk which means I relapse a lot. I've had a stem cell transplant and Car T. I'm about to start a second clinical trial which I hope will put me in remission for awhile. I'm currently getting large bumps under my skin of myeloma which is unsettling. My Kappa light chain level is 2,600 which is way above normal. This is not necessarily going to be your journey. We are all different. If you don't have chromosomal changes you are in much better shape than myself. You find that out through a fish study that a MM specialist will do.

Good Luck.

I would definately ask your oncologist. It is best to go to an oncologist that specializes in MM. If you are no longer smoldering then I would think you would need to start treatment very soon. I have kappa free light chain disease as well. Good luck.

Interesting.. I've never been given a number, just positive or negative. Repeat labs again this next week. Maybe this doc ordered more, or I get more info.
I have light chains, never classified as Kappa or Lamda.

I hope I'm still MGUS.. I know too much, but am still confused. No one seems to have the whole picture
