So if on Medicare how do most people pay for medicine? Cancer Drugs like revlimed are never covered?
Income is the driving factor in receiving a grant. It is based on your W2 income tax form. We have found they do not expect you to liquidate your assets to pay for medications. My husband is on Revlimid. They have their own grant program. The pharmacology company is called Biologics.
I am not on Medicare (have insurance through my job), but even then I was able to request a 90% reduction in my co-pay from Celegene. My cancer clinic helped me with the application process. Please pursue this before giving up
Your oncologist /treatment center social services, etc. should have approached this from day one. There are so many grants and co pay relief programs waiting to help you. No one could afford such a cost. Even if you disolved and sold off everything you have, what would you do in the years to come.?
Very often the company who makes a med gives grants to pay for them.
My husband's oncologist said "no patient in this practice will go without their medication because they can not pay for it" . Let your oncologist, CRNP, nurse , be aware of this , so you can be directed to the correct person.
I was lucky a Medicare prescription plan comes with my supplemental plan through my former employer. It covers most of revlimid. My supplemental is very expensive but nothing compared to the cost of revlimid. A grant picks some up too. My copay isn’t bad. I’m blessed.
Mark, most of us get copay assist. I get a grant from Celgene. The Leukemia and Lymphoma society helps. Cancer Care Alliance also helps. Honestly we have a very expensive cancer cause we are on treatment forever😰 But there is help out there. You just have to call around and apply. Hope this helps 💜 I thought we would have to get as Medicare Advantage plan with drug coverage? I need to find out. Right now I'm still on my husband's insurance. With just Medicare A and B
