Hi Colleen. I to had a stem cell . It took about 4 hours to harvest the cells and was in the hospital for 3 weeks after. Friends came in and helped me out. This happened 17 years ago and I'm still going strong. I am on no medications at all. It was well worth it for me to have the stem cell. Good luck to you.

My husband wasn't allowed to stay with me. But that's OK. He would have just sat there and stared at me because I was so out of it. It has taken me about a little over a year before Im back to normal. I've still got the fatigue but I can cope. But mostly, I have my life back! ❤❤❤❤

For me they got enough in one day so that they could store some. I was sent home immediately after. Spent 14 days in the hospital after transplant. I was isolated except for my wife who was allowed to stay with me. I guess how how you should stay away from others depends on how quickly your antibodies recover to protect you. Your labs will tell. Best wishes to a successful process.

I can so relate to many of the responses & appreciate each & everyone that has gone through their journey. I had my stem cell transplant in 2016, I remember spending 3 weeks in the hospital. The harvest/collection process took one day, they collected 9.6 million stem cells in which app. half were used in the transplant & the other half frozen in case they were needed for a future transplant (?). I remain in remission & have been taking Revlimid for the maintenance of the myeloma. Hope this helps!
