How does everyone deal with the weight gain from takening steroids? Are there foods to eat to help with this? I don't eat alot but I can see already the weight coming on.
Colleen, I gained 12 pounds on Dex. The good news is that it comes off again quickly when you go off of it. You can eat foods that purge your body of excess liquid such as cucumbers, ginger, blueberries, artichokes and watermelon. There are more of them you can find off a Google search. For the sleep challenges try CBD oil and melatonin. That combo worked for me and it’s natural. CBD oil also has anti carcinogenic properties. Try to think of the chemo as something positive as opposed to a poison. I used to meditate during my infusions and visualize the chemo killing off the cancer cells. There is research that says this will actually assist your body in handling the process better, and it really worked for me. Hang in there!! It’s not an easy road but you are super strong and the alternative is not an option! 💕
Colleen, I didn’t get any side effects from the Revlimid. I took it before bedtime and that worked for me. Sometimes I find it worse to read the side effects. Taking it is a yes or a yes so I do not complicate matters for myself by thinking about what could happen. I found that what worked better for me was to take the meds and then if I felt anything odd, check to see if it could be a side effect. That way they weren’t in my head even before they happened. Hope this helps.
I'm loosing weigh. I eat s healthy diet. Very little sugar and lots of fruits and vegetables. Some meats too.
Alley, if you only gained 10 lbs you are so lucky. I lost 40 lbs during my stem cell transplant and have managed to gain it all back!! My fatigue up until a couple of weeks ago was unbearable and i slept most of the time. For some reason I am feeling 100% better so I'm hoping I can get off my tush and lose some of that. I understand where you're coming from and where the doctor is coming from. Being an overweight woman sucks! But we need to think about the cancer first!!! Hang in there!!!
Read the side affects of madication as information that happens but not very often otherwise the med would not have been approved. In testing new meds even if one person has an issue it will be documented.
