Why Is D3 & K2 Important To Take With Your Calcium Supplement?
A MyMyelomaTeam Member asked a question 💭

I just read an article about why it's important. It's because D3 helps you to absorb calcium and K2 tells the Calcium where to go! It directs the calcium to the bones instead of the soft tissue, which can cause atherosclerosis and heart attacks. It also activates osteocalcin, which holds calcium to bone. I don't like taking supplements, so I pull my calcium supplements apart and pour them into my yogurt. I hope this helps someone. Seeking Info On Selecting Place For 2nd Opinion: U Of AL/Birmingham Or U Of AR For Medical Sciences In Little Rock?
A MyMyelomaTeam Member asked a question 💭

Is there anyone out there who considered both of these options? Which did you pick and why? I'd love to know anyone's experience with either of these myeloma centers. They are both about the same distance from us. My husband thinks it would be easier to drive in Little Rock, but I'm doubtful that's the best reason for making an important medical decision! But I'm thrilled he has finally acknowledged the importance of a 2nd opinion.

A MyMyelomaTeam Member

Hey, Jackie! I hope you're doing well. We're not looking forward to driving to either B'ham or LR, but I think a 2nd opinion will be useful.

Has Anyone Else Developed Cavities Due To Your Mouth Being Dry All The Time Because Of The Medications?
A MyMyelomaTeam Member asked a question 💭

After discussing the X-rays with my dentist, he explained that the medications make our mouths stay dry and sets us up for developing cavities because the saliva that usually helps wash the bacteria away is not there. I wish someone had mentioned this so I could try to prevent what has happened.

A MyMyelomaTeam Member

Lack of saliva is a contributing factor. As I must use inhalers for asthma as well, extra vigilant hygiene is a must. Rinsing after each inhaler use, flossing, & brushing 2x daily.
