As a retired physician, I hypothesize that a cause for multiple myeloma is long term exposure to your immune system by a never changing bacteria or virus. The most likely source for such a bacteria or virus is a root canal or shingles. Bacteria can multiply and divide without exposure to plasma cells in the tubules of a dead tooth. I actually went to the ER for abdominal pain when I was first diagnosed. I could barely move without being in tremendous pain. The doctor told me my spleen was enlarged and if i coughed or sneezed too hard that it would rupture and I would be dead in minutes because they had no surgical team there.
