Is There An Alternative Drug To Velcade?

Is There An Alternative Drug To Velcade?

Is there an alternative drug to Velcade that doesn't cause neuropathy? I have been on it for only four months and starting to get tingling in hands and feet. Is this reversible? Has anyone experienced this and when did you get off the drug?

With 6 new Car-T Cell Therapy's now approved by the FDA since 2017, how do we know which one works best?

Hey Ricky, there are only 2 FDA approved CAR T available now for myeloma. More in the pipeline. They are only doing CAR T for relapsed and refractory myeloma after several treatments have failed. The… read more

Leg Weakness

Leg Weakness

My husband was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma in 2016. He's undergone treatment first with Revlimid/Velcade/Dexamethasone then on maintenance dose of Revelimid, and now on Darzalex/Pomalyst/Dexamethasone. He tolerates the treatment welll, but has serious weakness in his legs. Without his arms helping to propel him up, he wouldn't be able to stand. His balance has progressively gotten worse. We've seen several neurologists, but still have no answers as to what's causing this weakness. We… read more

Other Options Rather Than Stem Cell Transplant

Other Options Rather Than Stem Cell Transplant

Oncologist preparing for stem cell transplant for my husband, but after careful research, he does not know if he wants to undergo such a grueling procedure which has no guarantee of remission. He is doing quite well with his weekly chemo treatments which have astounded his doctors. Has anyone used alternative measures other than stem cell transplant, and instead decided on another version of treatment. We are so overwhelmed and indecisive about this.

Does Anyone Experience Back Pain And Painful Neuropathy Down There Legs And Feet

Does Anyone Experience Back Pain And Painful Neuropathy Down There Legs And Feet

I have had MM for 11 years. I did 6 weeks of Valcade which put me in remission. I the remained on Revlimid for 10 years. I developed neuropathy down the back of my legs. They ache, and it is annoying. My doctor decided I might be developing an intolerance to Revlimid so he took me off of it. Two month later my feet began to ache. It feels like I am walking on rocks. I have been taking Neurontin(800 mg 3 x a day). It helps but not enough. My doctor is going to try Lyrica
Ps I also… read more

I'm Interested To Find Out How Many People On This Forum Have Been Deemed Their Cancer Is In Remission And Are - No Longer Taking MM Meds ?

I'd like to know how you made the decision to stop the MM Meds.
Was it your choice or doctor recommended - any details would be great.

I'm now MRD Negative. My Doc has placed me on MM Meds holiday. Now with the Jan 2022 Report about MRD-SURE, I plan to stay in Labs Monitoring Mode with no MM Meds and only add back Revlimid, if a future Labs indicates the need. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Hi Greg,

I expect you'd want to know about the percentage of bad plasma and that they do a clonoSEQ test to see what your measurable cancer is. If its 10-6, then you're MRD-Negative - with no cancer… read more

Is One Able To Climb Three Flights Of Stairs During Outpatient SCT?

Is One Able To Climb Three Flights Of Stairs During Outpatient SCT?

I’m trying to decide the best place for me to stay during my outpatient SCT. My daughter’s apartment is closer to the hospital than my house but she lives on the third floor and there isn’t an elevator. I’m wondering if it is reasonable to think I will be able to climb the stairs during the SCT process. Please share your thoughts and experiences.

Do FISH Results Showing Chromosome Deletions And Alterations Ever Change Back To Normal As A Result Of Chemo Treatments?

Do FISH Results Showing Chromosome Deletions And Alterations Ever Change Back To Normal As A Result Of Chemo Treatments?

Husband's most recent cytology report from his bone marrow biopsy said "Normal Male Karyotype, no clonal abnormalities detected." A FISH analysis was not done on this biopsy, probably because there were no abnormalities, but the original Fish analysis on the biopsy done at diagnosis, showed multiple chromosome deletions and alterations, leading to a "high risk" prognosis. This is also puzzling, since we were told that "high risk" suggests that the usual therapies do not work and multiple… read more
