Have you progressed from smoldering to active myeloma? How long did it take?
I am seeing that quite a few people on here are recommending a myeloma specialist. The doctor my PCP recommended I see is a hematologist/oncologist with her profile indicating treating Multiple Myeloma and othe r blood dyscrqasias and blood cancers. She is form the Kellogg Cancer Center in Evanston. My question is should i be looking for a person who only specializes in Myeloma.? my moms oncologist/hematologist treated a variety of other cancers.
I am looking for trials involving Tcell treatments in canada. Does anyone have any contact info for this? I've been through one course of chemo and stem cell recently and currently in remission. Living on the west coast of BC. thanks

Hi, my plasma cell numbers were high but not high enough to be diagnosed with multiple myeloma. Instead it was deemed smoldering, despite having some anemia. Now my anemia number is down to 9.6 and my red blood cell count is low too. It sounds like I am getting worse but no one seems to be panicking. Anyone understand anemia? Will iron help? More red meat?
