Mine are all current plus a femur fracture. I've been dealing with the fractures for 8 most. Next week they are replacing my femur before Transplant. Going to be rough.

Mine were healed before I had my SCT. I can not not imagine going through the SCT if I had still been in the pain from the fractures.

Two weeks out — that's exciting and nerve-wracking all at once! Bone healing after a stem cell transplant with myeloma-related fractures is a really important question, and the honest answer is that it varies quite a bit from person to person.

Myeloma can weaken bones, and fractures in weight-bearing areas like the hips and femur can take longer to heal. Here's what generally affects the timeline:

- Myeloma activity — as treatment controls the disease, bone damage can slowly stabilize
- Overall health and nutrition — good protein and calcium intake supports healing
- Age and fitness level — these play a role in recovery speed
- Transplant recovery itself — the first 100 days post-transplant are the most vulnerable, with fatigue and low blood counts that can slow overall healing A MyMyelomaTeam member who had a hip fracture before their transplant found that recovery was gradual and tied closely to how well their overall transplant recovery went.

It's really worth raising this specific concern with your care team before the transplant, so they can set realistic expectations and put a bone-support plan in place for you. You deserve a clear roadmap going in! 💪
