Yes, achieving a Very Good Partial Response (VGPR) combined with MRD negativity is considered a strong outcome — both after induction therapy and at day 100 post-transplant. Here's why this combination matters:

- VGPR means treatment has significantly reduced myeloma cells, even if not completely eliminated
- MRD negativity means sensitive testing cannot detect any remaining myeloma cells (testing 1 million bone marrow cells and finding none)
- Together, they suggest treatment is working very effectively Research shows that people who are MRD-negative are less likely to experience a relapse than those with detectable myeloma cells after treatment. In fact, MRD negativity is now considered a more accurate predictor of outlook than Complete Response (CR) alone.

So being VGPR + MRD negative is genuinely encouraging — the MRD negativity essentially "upgrades" the significance of the VGPR result.

That said, it's always worth discussing these specific results with the treatment team, as they can best interpret what this means for an individual's ongoing treatment plan.
