Facial dryness and discoloration after a stem cell transplant (SCT) are common skin changes that can result from the treatment process. The good news is there are several ways to manage and soothe these symptoms.

Here are some skin care tips to help rehydrate and protect your skin:

- Use a gentle, fragrance-free moisturizer or cream (non-alcohol-based) to keep skin hydrated
- Try colloidal oatmeal baths to soothe dry, irritated skin
- Wash with lukewarm water — not hot — to avoid further drying
- Use a mild, fragrance-free soap
- Protect lips with a hydrating lip balm
- Wear sunscreen even in winter, as skin can be more sun-sensitive after SCT
- Avoid tight or restrictive clothing around affected areas
- Skip ice packs or hot packs, as these can worsen sensitive skin For discoloration specifically, chemotherapy can cause changes to skin pigment, which is a known side effect. This is worth mentioning to your oncologist, who may refer you to a dermatologist for more targeted treatment options — including topical or oral medications if needed.

Always check with your oncology team before introducing new skincare products, including deodorants or powders, to make sure they're safe for your skin right now.

I found the BEST products for cancer and chemo-related skin!!! It is called Avene. It's a French product and they have stuff just for cancer-skin! Cifalcate and Tolerate are two that I really like. They also have tinted sunscreen for your face that hides the imperfections created by drugs. AveneUSA.com. It's a bit pricey, but it's worth every penny!

Yes, I never used anything on my face most of my life. I have run marathons and never needed anything. I thought it was age. I do use special soap in the shower as i have no hair. Lots of side effects. l.I noticed it about a year.I wish you well Corazon
