Andrea, I've done nothing that I know of to help myself. I've just read comments from two other people who have been free on MM for twenty-five years.
In 2010, after 2 years of chemo, I was taken off all drugs, including Revlimid, because all signs of MM were gone. I think chemo saved my life. I also think it's poison and should be treated like used toilet paper after it's served its intended purpose.
The only reason I'm on this site is to offer hope and to prove publicly if my oncologist was right when he said, 'You're CURED.
'
I'm 84, shooting for 100.
Hi Leslie. That’s wonderful! Happy you’re on this site. So encouraging that you’re MM free for many years! May I ask if you take any supplements or do anything with a special diet to remain “cured”?
Andrea
I’m 3yr & 10 mo on Revlimid maintenance after SCT. This week my Oncologist agreed for me to take a break from the Revlimid. The reason is that my neuropathy is slowly getting worse. He said that the current standard of care is to stay on maintenance until you relapse but I have been MRD negative for about 3 years and in a deep remission. The plan is to do a BMB now as a baseline and continue to monitor my blood work on a quarterly basis. I’m comfortable with this plan. If your husband is comfortable with the plan to stop Revlimid than I would go for it. Good luck on your decision.
I'm a case study of one. Diagnosed 5/2008. Oncologist Johns Hopkins, Baltimore, MD. gave me 'six months, maybe' when she told me I was rejected for SCT. Off chemo 2010 after my nurse, Ms Ibo, told me my numbers were 'looking really good'. No chemo since then. I'm 84. Kaiser Permanente, Largo, MD.
