@A MyMyelomaTeam Member,
At one point I had high calcium levels in my blood. I was taking a calcium, magnesium and D3 supplement without Vitamin K2. K2 tells calcium to go to the bones. D3 helps you absorb it. K2 brought my calcium levels down. It’s easy. Try just taking K2 for a few weeks before your blood tests and see if your levels go down. I did not do that. I just added K2 to calcium, Magnesium and D3. I like MRM Bone Maximizer III. It seems to work better for me than other supplements I have tried. It has D3 and K2 in the pill, but I take extra with it, since MM is constantly breaking down the bones and flooding the blood with calcium, I figured, why not tell the calcium to go back into the bones? It seems to be working. I was diagnosed with severe osteoporosis in 2019 and have not broken a bone. My fingernails now grow very fast. I have not tried New Chapter. Also, avoid salty food, carbonated drinks, and caffeine. They all take calcium out of the bones. I have added you to my team. You are welcome to join.

How might calcium supplements affect chronic kidney disease (CKD) and multiple myeloma?
Managing calcium intake with both CKD and myeloma requires careful attention. High calcium levels (hypercalcemia) are common in myeloma, affecting 10-15% of people at diagnosis and more than 1 in 4 at some point during their disease.
Thank you for asking 🙏 When it comes to supplements and especially with CKD (chronic kidney disease) and MM (multiple myeloma) it’s really important to be careful.
Some calcium supplements (including New Chapter and others) can affect:
Kidney function (because kidneys help process minerals)
Blood calcium levels (which can be a concern in MM)
Medication interactions
For these reasons, it’s best to talk with your doctor or nephrologist before starting any new supplement, including New Chapter. A healthcare provider can check your labs (calcium, phosphate, kidney function) and advise what’s safest for you
Many in MM/CKD groups have been advised to use minerals only when medically recommended, and doses tailored to their lab results and so your care team’s advice is key 🙌
