Get the Blood Test clonoSEQ. It’s Far More Sensitive than any of the standard Labs that we can get from our Onc/Doc. The SPEP and SIEP can have False MSpikes.
When your Blood Test clonoSEQ is Negative (none per million cells tested), then you’re in Complete Remission

What blood tests show remission after a stem cell transplant for IgA kappa myeloma?
After a stem cell transplant, doctors use several blood tests to check if you're in remission:
M Protein Tests:
- Serum protein electrophoresis (SPEP) tracks M protein levels in your blood
- Urine protein electrophoresis (UPEP) checks M protein in your urine
- Quantitative immunoglobulins may be used since IgA can be harder to measure on SPEP alone
Other Key Blood Tests:
- Beta-2 microglobulin levels
- Albumin levels
- Lactate dehydrogenase (LDH)
- Calcium levels
- Creatinine (kidney function)
- Hemoglobin (checking for anemia)
Your doctor will also monitor blood counts and check for minimal residual disease (MRD). MRD testing uses advanced methods to detect very small numbers of myeloma cells that might remain after treatment. Being MRD-negative means tests can't find any cancer cells when examining 1 million bone marrow cells.
Complete remission means no cancer shows up on tests, though tiny amounts of myeloma cells may still exist. That's why regular monitoring continues even during remission.
