Hi Donna
Long IVIG days don’t mean it isn’t working, they mean it’s being done safely for your body. Chest tightness when it runs too fast is a real reaction, and slowing it down is the correct response. Many of us never tolerate fast rates, and that’s okay. A 5-hour infusion is very common for sensitive patients, especially with myeloma or immune suppression.
What matters is ,you’re protected against infections and your team listens and adjusts
You finish the infusion without serious symptoms. You’re not weak, difficult, or “high maintenance.”
You’re informed, paying attention to your body, and advocating for yourself that’s exactly what keeps us safer in the long run 💪🌿
I get IVIG monthly. They have to run mine slow. I get chest tightness
If it goes to fast. It is a long vist, about 5 hours.
I get infusions monthly and they are painless
Hello,
I received IVIG once a month for 10 months, end of 2024 to fall of 2025 …the process was fine for me, I did not really have a lot of side effects, just some fatigue…the only thing about it is you have to be patient as it has to be infused very slowly in case you have an adverse reaction to the treatment…Best of luck!
I've been getting IVIG monthly for over a year at Univ of MD. I fall asleep after getting Benadryl, takes 2-3hrs, & wiped out for the day. BUT feel my immune system much better, and no other side effects. It's worth it.
If you’re in remission do you still receive monthly maintenance therapy? If so, what do you receive?
