Light chains may fluctuate in and out of the normal range with infections (cold, flu, etc.). If this is the first indication of a rise, wait for the next two lab tests. Doctors will look at a trend, not a single test.

Good morning! Sounds like you definitely need to check in with your doctor. What was your initial diagnosis? Mine was IGA Lambda Light Chain MM. Both times prior to my relapses, the light chain number started to consistently rise. Hopefully, this is not what is happening, but I think asking the doctor is very important.

The light chain numbers in themselves don't tell much. They have to look at several of our numbers over time. Like the other person said, we have to know what type of myeloma we have. I'm IgG lambda, so my kappa going up would be from something else besides myeloma. Kidney issues and infections can make our light chains go up too.
