Just saw your question while looking for another. Definitely yes. Multiple Myeloma is one of the approved cancers for disability benefits. I received my disability approval after only two weeks of applying.

I was diagnosed with active MM in August 2022 and experienced painful spinal fractures, rapid weight loss and ended up in a wheelchair for a few months. If you apply for disability it’s vital to be extremely specific when describing how the myeloma limits your daily activities. I could not dress or bathe without assistance for a while so in describing all those limitations I was awarded disability. My sister worked for many years for the Social Security administration and she stressed to me the importance of DeTAIL in describing a typical day. She said to write it as if you were writing for an actress to be you in a play.

Wish you the best if you apply. Feel free to ask any questions; I’d be glad to help.

Andrea
