I have had more hip and pelvic pain since my harvest; I have not had a PET scan since diagnoses in Oct 2024 and wonder if the lesions are getting worse despite having zometa every 3 months. When is it appropriate to have an additional scan?
I am 9 months post CAR-T cell infusion, bone marrow biopsy is negative and I feel great. The whole CAR-T cell experience was easy and I would do it again if I had to. The providers say I’m doing very well. So no complaints. I would definitely do it over a SCT.
I turned down the SCT when I was diagnosed in March '24 at age 67 to continue working. But the more I read, I will probably only do harvesting, SCT or even Car-T only if absolutely necessary, all too invasive for me.
Thank you for sharing your experience. I am going to ask more questions when I see the doctor in January before I get the zometa again.
Are you experiencing more pain after stem cell mobilization drugs?
Yes, a MyMyelomaTeam member shared experiencing increased pain after the injections used to mobilize stem cells for harvesting. The drugs used to draw stem cells from the bone into the blood can cause discomfort, particularly in areas like the hips and Show Full Answer
After 3 treatments of zometa, it made my bones hurt worse. It also causes necrosis of the jaw, that's why you need a dental clearance. Even though they want me to do 13 weeks of zometa, I'll stick to no more than 4. After the 3rd treatment earlier this year I could barely walk. I declined all further zometa treatments!!
