Hi Sarah, he had spinal surgery by Dr. Kholsa at St, John’s in Santa Monica. We have an appointment with Sarah Larsen on 10/22. We are currently with Sean Fischer at. St. John’s and Dr. Vescio at Cedars. He starts 10 radiation treatments on Wednesday and he has on DRVD now.

Do you like Sarah Larsen?

Yes, I really like Dr Sarah Larson. She understands my Smoldering MM and how my other comorbidities will affect which chemo or medications I will take.

Hi Sheryl,
Maybe he just needs a little more time to heal. Where did he have his spinal surgery? I’m seeing Dr Sarah Larson at UCLA.

My husband did not want to go but I went anyways. He did join the support group and loves it. People understand and are really supportive of each other.

• Express your care and concern without being pushy
• Explain how getting support could help both of you navigate this journey together
• Start small - suggest trying just one session or group meeting to start
• Offer to accompany him to initial appointments if he's comfortable with that Remember that the timing needs to be right for him. Some MyMyelomaTeam members have found success by first connecting online, which can feel less intimidating than in-person support. The key is to keep communication open while respecting his readiness to take this step.

If he's not ready for therapy or support groups, you might suggest starting with the oncology team about managing both physical and emotional aspects of treatment. They can provide referrals when he feels ready.
